In most instances, people do not realize how easy it is for criminals to do identity theft. It will only come to their senses when they are victimized. Accessibility to the personal information even without entering one's residence is easy for them. Among the familiar ways a criminal could carry this out are "shoulder surfing" and "dumpster diving".
These two methods are very traditional but it is the most effective way a thief can bring about identity theft. Thieves are very capable of employing this means because people are easy going. Many times they just toss papers which they think nobody would care to pick up.
In shoulder surfing, a thief keeps an eye on you. If you go to the department store and use your credit card, thieves are right behind you to poke on your number as you punch and memorize it. In some occasions, they will act as eavesdroppers to listen to your conversation either on the phone or to individuals for credit numbers you might release.
Other ways includes watching you from a distance when withdrawing money from an ATM machine to get your number. It is easy for them to do theft because we are not vigilant enough in our identity theft protection.
Dumpster diving on the other hand happens when someone goes through your garbage. Nothing is supposed to be wrong in this case because sometimes, we throw away good things which can be used by others. However, the downside of this is when our sensitive information from the bills is being used for other things like identity theft.
The garbage which is taken for granted opens the door to dumpster divers to enter your bank accounts and mess with your funds. This will give them a new life they opt. while this will also be the turning point of your life. They will milk you your cash for many months and years until you discover it is happening.
These are the ordinary ways which is being employed by criminals to bring about identity theft. Extra effort not to be vocal in public on the personal information like SS numbers, credit card account numbers, phone numbers and other personal information. Also proper disposal of personal documents where personal information is written should be observed.
