Apply the same theory to your dissertation is literature review. To say that it is an important component of your research report would be a major understatement.
The review is one of the most important chapters in a research report which talks about the studies and researches that were previously conducted relevant to the literature. It gives the impression that the researcher is knowledgeable and has done a thorough homework for the dissertation. The main idea is for the researcher to collect secondary data from databases, books and other sources and analyze it for the readers first handedly.
4 STEPS FOR PREPARING THE REVIEW
Step 1. Define the theme of your research along with its components. This will help you maintain focus of your research on the components that have been identified.
Step 2. Search for material relevant to your study. The sources that can be used here are journals, databases, internet and books etc.
Step 3. Assess what you have found. Make sure that the information you have gathered makes a significant impact on your chosen field of research.
Step 4. Go through all the material that you have collected and then interpret it in your own words. Make sure that you provide discussions and analysis of the previous researches.
